I bought (2) of the older versions (at Lowes) and (1) of this version (from Amazon). The newer version is smaller, and easier to install. Wiring is located in center (where it should be) unlike the older version which was a pain to get some of the wires to reach the screw terminals.
Yes, the newer version does not have (LED) status lights. So what.
I linked mine with a Vera2 (paired just fine) and so this is the version to get, not the older one. Works as advertised.

I now have two of these thermostats and both easily installed and set up was a breeze. I did have one question regarding wiring which their tech support was super. got right through, quickly explained what I needed to do, and I was off and running in no time. The Z-Wave setup was a snap and I can check/control each thermostat from my Droid, along with getting alerts when the temp drops below or rises above a set level. I highly recommend Trane and these thermostats!

Installed this unit and "included" it into my MiCasaVerde Vera 3 Z-Wave network. Using [...] and the associated mobile site (no apps, just Safari or other web browser), able to control HVAC from anywhere.
I'm not sure about any added functionality of using the Nexia subscription service at $8.99/month or purchasing a $29 Z-Wave App from the App store - creating an account on MIOS and using a browser work OK (with no extra cost).
