Run Your Home from Anywhere
Nexia Home Intelligence is a new way to run your home, from wherever life takes you. Everyone is busy, on the go, and being pulled in a hundred different directions, which makes staying on top of what's happening at home especially hard. But Nexia brings together home automation technology with a simple way to manage it from a distance, enabling you to do things like unlock the front door, adjust heating and cooling, and even manage home security and energy use--right from your Internet-connected smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Created by Schlage and Trane, Nexia Home Intelligence communicates wirelessly via Z-Wave wireless technology--out of the way and invisible--so there's nothing to figure out. An open system, Nexia Home Intelligence allows you to affordably manage your home your way now, with just the Z-Wave components you want. Expand on it later, anytime you want--and as often as you want--by adding more Z-Wave components as your needs grow.
Gradually build your system with cameras, locks, lighting and small appliance controls, thermostats, and sensors over time. Additionally, Z-Wave products from Schlage and Trane work with other Z-Wave-based products available from a variety of providers, so you can customize your home automation and security system how you want it, when you want it.
To access remote management features, Nexia Home Intelligence requires a monthly subscription ($8.99), which includes a free one-month trial period that enables you to experience the benefits of this system before billed. There are no contracts or cancellation fees, and any unused months will be refunded. Additionally, the Nexia Home Intelligence system requires the Nexia Home Bridge (sold separately) for wireless connectivity.

By Jason S.
This thermostat is just great. It works well with the Nexia system as would be expected, but also works great with other home automation systems like MiCasaVerde and their Mi Casa Verde VeraLite Home Controller, White and Green and Mi Casa Verde Vera3 Flexible, Powerful and affordable Home Controller (Both of which have no monthly fee). It is an easy install if you have a common neutral wire and looks nice when installed. Responds instantly to your command over Z-Wave and is a terrific way to save a lot of money on your electric bill.

By Jay
Installing the Trane was a breeze (requires a C-line). Instruction manual is thorough and well-organized. I didn't use Nexia Home Intelligence system (requires monthly fees) instead it can be easily used with MiCasaVerde's Vera system (no monthly fees, great customization possibilities). Now I can program my thermostat and monitor temperature while away using my smartphone or tablet. Very reliable and good Z-Wave wireless range.

By Just a guy
The thermostat gets five stars, the Nexia system gets four.
The thermostat is a nice 7 day - programmable thermostat for heating and cooling. You will need a 24v common wire - it does not work on batteries. If your existing thermostat requires batteries, think twice before ordering this. You must have a live 24v common wire. The thermostat can operate independently of the Nexia system, and it does that pretty well. The screen is clear and blends right into most modern homes. It is neither offensive nor beautiful. You do not need an owner's manual or technical training to operate it - or even program it. It passes the babysitter test - ie. babysitter is cold, she can warm it up without instructions.
The Nexia system has great promise and works really well once everything is set up. Set up, however, is a chore. You need to create an online account and go through a painfull pairing process to link the thermostat to a "bridge" - not included in the cost of the thermostat. The bridge creates a z-wave network in your home - sort of like wifi. It is a black box that needs to plug into your ethernet router. There is a whole process involving inserting and removing a 9v battery to get the thermostat linked to your "bridge." I don't know much about z-wave systems, so I cant comment on whether this is compatible with other bridges, or if you need the Nexia one. What I do know is that there is a nine dollar monthly fee to use the system. Thus, if you want to be able to make changes on the internet or through your iphone, you need to pay a monthly fee. I'm not sure if the monthly fee model is the best one out there. I think most people might pay a bit more upfront for unlimited use down the road. Realistically, after the first month or two of playing with it, you probably will only use the remote access features once a month or so - maybe even less frequently.
You can set up macros with other compatible Nexia things. For example, you can set it up so that the heat increases whenever a keypad code is entered to unlock a lock (but you can't turn down the heat when someone leaves the house). There are also cameras and lamp modules that can be added to the system.
There is another version of this thermostat with a full color screen and ipad like functions. This is much less expensive and probably more user friendly.
